Why Choose Wooda Campsite for Your Family Getaway?

We chose Wooda as it was just on the outskirts of Bude, which we had previously visited before and the perfect first pitch up for our Summer Holiday adventure 2025. It was also voted Best Family Campsite UK 2023 & 2024 by Campsites.co.uk and Tripadvisors Travellers Choice 2024, so it was a must see. It was roughly around 2 and a half hours away from our Somerset base and a good starting point for our mini tour of Cornwall.

Checking In

We got to Wooda in the early afternoon and having already pre-booked our pitch online was told we could drive to our pitch and use the Wooda App to check in (you can also check in at the reception). It was easy and quick and the app also told you what events were available during your stay.

The pitch

We booked an Electric Hookup Grass pitch not to far away from the toilet and shower block and pretty close to the kids park. The pitch was around 10 x 10 meters so we had plenty of room to set up.

Facilities & Events

Once settled we had a look around, the toilet and shower block were clean and modern, the kids park was well equipped and spacious and in the distance it looked like there was some accessible fields for hiking or walking the dog. Further up from the path near the kids park there was a couple of bars and a function room that had a kids entertainer and a face painter all available at no extra cost (although granted a bit of a wait for the kids to get there faces painted, we struggled on with a pint in hand).

Near the reception there is a shop to get your camping basics, the lady we spoke to behind the counter was very friendly and chatty. To the side of the reception there was a takeaway which usually opened late afternoon/ early evening for a tea time treat if you fancy.

Accessibility

Wooda is only a couple of miles away from Bude sea front, we used a local bus that ran every hour or so and caught it right outside of Wooda entrance, it only took around 10-15 minutes to get to where we wanted. We then caught a taxi on the way back that was pretty reasonable not too far from the main strip of shops and cafes. Obviously you can just drive and park up in Bude but personally we didnt really want to remove/pack everything from the tentbox after we had already set up our temporary camp for the next couple of days.

Cost

Late July 2025: 2 x nights = £122 (£61 per night with electric)*

*This was the price for 2 adults and 2 children picking our own electric grass pitch

Would we stay again?

We really enjoyed Wooda, the facilities were great, it had a nice relaxed, safe atmosphere. The food and bars were really nice. The kids loved going off and playing in the park as and when they wanted to. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and it definitely had that family atmosphere. Overall we really enjoyed it and was a great start to our Cornwall adventure and we would stay again.
