Welcome to Port Isaac

Nestled along the stunning North Cornwall coast, Port Isaac is a charming fishing village that feels like stepping back in time. With its narrow, winding streets and picturesque harbor, it’s the perfect destination for families looking to explore the beauty of Cornwall while making lasting memories.

Family-Friendly Activities

When it comes to things to do in Port Isaac, there’s no shortage of family-friendly activities. You can start your adventure by taking a stroll along the scenic coastal path, where breathtaking views await at every turn. The expanse of coastline is perfect for leisurely walks, offering opportunities for children to run and explore safely.

If your family enjoys the seaside, don’t miss out on the chance to go crabbing off the harbor. This delightful activity will keep the kids entertained as they try to catch their very own crabs using just a fishing line, some bait, and a bit of patience. It’s a fantastic way to bond with family while teaching kids about local marine life.

Discover Local Attractions

Port Isaac is known for its connection to the popular TV series “Doc Martin,” and fans can explore several filming locations around the village. Kids will love spotting familiar sights from the show, making it not just an adventure but also a fun game. For families looking for a bit of culture, a visit to the Port Isaac Museum is a must. Here, you’ll find fascinating exhibits detailing the village’s history and maritime heritage.

We also wanted to visit as we are also big fans of the local fishermens friends so it was great to see where it all started! Check out there music its well worth a listen if you like your sea shanties.

If you’re seeking something a bit more hands-on, consider booking a family pottery class with one of the local artisans. These classes introduce kids to the art of ceramics in a fun, engaging way and, at the end of the session, everyone can take home their creations as a unique souvenir.

Indulging in Local Cuisine

No visit to Port Isaac would be complete without sampling the local cuisine. After a long day of exploring we went to the brilliant Fresh from the sea which wasnt too far away from where we parked. The staff were really friendly and the food was amazing all caught from there local boat Evan George. We decided to share a mix of dishes including dressed crab, mackerel pate and a crab soup all of which were fantastic. I would highly recommend a visit if you go to Port Isacc.

Alternatively, grab a sweet treat from one of the charming bakeries, where you can find delicious Cornish pastries (steak and stilton for the win) and cakes. Pair it with some locally produced ice cream for a refreshing treat as you relax by the harbor.

Conclusion

Port Isaac offers a delightful blend of scenic beauty, family-friendly activities, and local charm that makes it a wonderful getaway for families. Whether you’re exploring the picturesque village, enjoying local cuisine, or embarking on outdoor adventures, you’ll create memories that will last a lifetime.
